it takes allot of dedication to do a type set like the 7070 album from Dansco and I am sure the people that haven't ever attempted to do one really doesn't quite understand the dedication it actually takes to finish such an album nor how hard a few of the coins (especially in anything above AU and in Problem free) can be to find. They probably don't realize exactly money can be invested in such an endeavor either (I know I had no idea when I started). But even after all that is said it is one of the most fulfilling sets I have ever attempted to put together and would suggest anyone thinking about trying one to do it if possible. Out of all the coins I have that one album gets the most Ooohs! and Ahhhs! from everyone that happens to see it 6than any other coin or set of coins I have. It is also very educational because you will be surprised how many people didn't even know allot of those coins were ever made. I have to wonder if you will send all the coins in to be slabbed by one specific company when finished or if you will leave them as acquired. This is why cracking all the coins I did for my type set was an easy choice for me but I can tell you it can be a costly decision if you ever have to sell the coins that you have cracked out

Bryan, thanks for your insight on the matter. It is getting tougher as the holes are slowly filled up. I am going to leave them in their respective slabs (for now at least, no intention of putting them in the Dansco) and trade up as necessary. I have one more Seated quarter on it's way (1876-CC).

Oh yeah, the Ooohs and Ahhhs are what keep me going by cranking out another 20+ hours at a part time job to feed my "monster"!

Beautiful set! I'm thinking of doing something similar in the future. Anyone ever use those slab albums from ebay?

I am using the Lighthouse Slab Trays. I am not too sure about a "slab album". To each their own.

I bet you do get a lot of positive feedback when ever you do show this sets.

Do you have any set goals, as far as grade and which coins you will include. I am curious how many coins you think you will have when your set is complete.

I ask because I am curious how many trays it will end up taking. I also like the lighthouse trays ands cases, so I am thinking they have a 12 tray case (I think), 8 slabs per tray for a total of 96 coins .. would that do a complete type set.

I guess I am going to dig out my 7070 and see how many it has .. plus the ones I wish it had ..

See what you started .. I might have to do one of these sets also. Just when I told myself no more sets ..

That is another reason I chose the trays versus the album...flexibility!

Can you post a pic of the trays? Are you putting the trays into a box or do they stack, etc?

I'm pursuing a type set after having been out of the hobby for many years. I was thinking of doing a 7070 with raw coins, but then I couldn't handle them and look at them without worrying that I'm going to drop them. Thank you for the slab idea!
