Brokedoc, list it now! there are probably a few coming out of the woodward sooner than later beat them to the punch.
Lukemarshall, what did you get for your half kilo, and what variety of JM bar was it? I have my 500g JM bar from the 70's I've thought of putting up

Swrbxxx - yea....I'm tempted. I figure my bar has fewer of the top pour imperfections that the other two had, plus it has a radar serial but sometimes those pour imperfections are appealing to the collectors... Silverhawk - according to the about.ag Definitive Engelhard pages, There were no bull/OX logos for the 4oz, 100gm, 7oz, 25oz, or 1kilo bars. So for OX/Bull logo on poured bars, you have the 2oz, 3oz, 5oz, 10oz, 500gm, 20oz, 50oz, and 100oz. I sent them the new prices for the recently sold 4 oz bars. Hopefully it will raise more interest. http://about.ag/Engelhard-OddSizes.htm

swrbxxx, My JM half kilo was the struck version similar to the 1oz bars you see all over the bay. I saw two end in one day that brought 1200 and 1300. I listed mine with no reserve and ended up getting around 875. I still got more than I paid, but was kinda disappointed those last 10 seconds I've seen poured ones fetch 800 easy and up to 1000 in the past month. Brokedoc, I have personally seen engelhard bars that aren't on that list, so there are more varieties out there. I would list that bar of yours with a BIN or best offer, that way you don't get caught with your pants down.

Luke - I hate getting caught with my pants down. Some sellers will pull their auctions if they don't like the bidding activity but it's really hard to tell if there will be a sudden price war in the last 30 seconds from the buyers that wait until the last minute. I really am considering listing my bar. I have a couple of bills I would LOVE to pay off...
If you have pics of bars that aren't on the Definitive pages, dropping them an email will help keep the list as up to date as possible. They keep a different list for Engelhard 1 oz, 5 oz, 10oz, 100oz and odd sizes. Funny that they put all the JMs on the one list from 1gm to 1000oz.

Great info all, and that is all good to know, via that new collection auction and the ox size chart....
I knew I had seen all that I mentioned minus the 1 oz. version, but some of the rare sizes had no ox stamp....

Just read this whole thread, it was quite an interesting read. I agree with the others brokedoc, you should list your bar while these are still selling for huge money. to the forum. (And great looking bar)

I'm still shaking my head over this. Part of me just can't comprehend that non-numismatic lumps of silver can be considered "rare" or "collectible" just because somebody stamped their company name on it (or that a four ounce lump of non-numismatic silver could possibly sell for $3500. The other part of me, of course, is wondering why a 4-ounce "old pour" Engelhard from the 1970s can sell for $3500, but nobody seems to be interested in my 100-ounce old pour JM&M bar (also from the 1970s) for "only" $4000...

And here I was thinking 5, 10, 20, and 50oz Engelhard bars are overpriced :) If only I can find a couple 2, 3, 4, and 7ozers at closer to spot, I could put my kid through collage before you know it.

Quote: Some sellers will pull their auctions if they don't like the bidding activity This will be ending soon. ebay just sent out their fall preview notice, and sellers who end items early(only applies to auctions that have bids) will be charged a final value fee based on the current bids.

Most interesting and very important to note 17.... So if I had and item setting at 125 bucks and wanted 500 and had NO reserve, I could no longer end it at 13 hours left because I would have to pay that FULL 125 dollars? Also, does the high bidder get that money or ebay, rof ? I think we all know the answer to that one.... It will stop people when you hit them where it hurts the most, in the wallet.... I don't like ticking off bidders by doing that, possible future business and much happens in last 30 seconds, mostly 90% of the bids often.... I once saw a rare creature from the black lagoon figure jump from 300 to 1600 in the last 30 seconds, and it happens like that often on real special rare items....

I haven't seen the new article from ebay yet, but it sounds to me like you would be on the hook for the final value fee on the $125. So 125 x .09= 11.25 + listing cost. Edit* unless you have a store, then I think it's 6% BICBR This is pretty serious stuff, first no ebay bucks on bullion now this... Best to just follow my advise on page 3. High BIN with best offer option, unless you're in it till the end. Or use forums such as this one to sell, too bad for me I need another 225+ quality posts... no rush though

I like investing in bullion. Not numismatic bullion. As much as I heart Engelhard & JM, I would never pay that high of a $ premium due to its scarcity.
