Wow another rare 4 oz Engelhard bar. And this one happens to be over $3k.
Current bid of $3200/4 = $800 bucks an oz,

That's amazing, Trip. I love old bars but not at those prices.

It bumped up to $3,500. Might see $1,000/oz by the time this one is said and done. . .

ebay chain reaction I call it.... One collector sees the 4 oz. auction last week and how high it got.... They say...."Hey I got one of those lets list it and see if I can get the same".... By this point, all the last bidders who missed out now refuse to let it get away, hence the ridiculous-nous that is this 4 oz. sized bar.... Humans never seize to amaze me and their vast ability for pure genius, or like in this case pure stupidity and everything in-between.... I could buy that bar and list it in six months and it would get up to like 225 bucks, rof ....

Silverhawk, good observation
I saw a "rare" bar followed by a duplicate go for top dollar a while back. I figured Id jump on having one myself. Ended up getting about 60% of the first two... That sucked

Holy cow. It's up to $3500 with a few hours left still. I have a similar 4 oz bar with a true radar serial no "02320". I was thinking of keeping it in my Engelhard set but I don't think I'd get anywhere close to these prices if I sold it in 10+ yrs.
What do you guys think? Should I be the 3rd bar to sell or keep it for future appreciation?

Brokedoc I would cash in personally and get 3500 or more while you can. List this thing for 9 days after this one ends and look out....
I just don't see this crazy hist-aria continuing, even though who knows what it will bring in ten years, maybe double that, lol....
A bird in the hand goes a long way in this guys opinion and my gut tells me these guys are about peaked out....
A new thought will arrive to most if 3 IN A ROW is listed...."Is it really as rare as we all figure?" and I think it probably is. Most I bet got melted down way back in mid 80's....

I think Hawk's right, brokedoc. Plus, you can change your screen name after the sale ;)
And welcome to the forum!

Nothing is guaranteed, that is for sure but I personally would list it. I took the chance on my 1/2 kilo JM bar but only got 60% of the first 2 listed but such is life.
I'd probably list it at $4000 or best offer and accept what I felt comfortable accepting.
Best of luck!

I have a silver Engelhard dream.....
A dream to own a old pour OX. 1 oz. 3 oz. (yes an the 4 oz.) bar as well as the 5 and 7, a 10 a 20 a 50 and 100 bar before I die....
Can you imagine the interest that would bring in auction?
The problem with it is this. If you were able to do the un-thinkable and complete that set, HOW COULD YOU SELL IT? TOO special and rare, so there fore all the money spent on it would be almost washed down the drain on a personal trophy or collector piece....
I could sell it as everything has a price. But on that set man it would be way high. Let me do some math here and I will give you my BIN price, lol....
If you called the 1 bar 50, the 3 bar a grand, the four bar 4 grand, the 7 bar a grand perhaps, say 200 on ox 5, 350 on the ox 10, say 1 grand on the ox 20, and 2 grand on the ox 50, and say 3 grand on the easy to find low premium 100, you are only looking at about 7k....
I would stick a 12k price tag on it and see what kind of offers I could get. Just would not wanna let it go for less seeing as how it would be a once in a lifetime rare silver bar collection....
Did I miss any sizes, was there a 2 oz. for example old pour?

To my knowledge there is no one ounce old pour version of the engelhard bull logo. There is a two oz and it is exceedingly rare, like 3k rare Also your figure on the 7oz is a bit light, I'd venture to say you'd have to shell out 2k on one.

only 2 bidders since it was $2300.00 Between these 2 they've bid it up $1200.00 as a buyer that's just stupid but as a seller you have to be Loving this

So the 2nd listing sold for $3500. I had my listing all ready to post but I think Jasper has a point. Both of these listings were all bid up by the same 2 bidders. Now each of them has one. I don't think there is going to be much heat for a third....Three's a crowd? I'll probably wait a few weeks and reconsider. Then again, these bidders probably are not like us regular mortals and have money coming out of their wazoos....
