Ordered this last Thursday after silver dipped back toward the low $27 range and it just came in today. I got it for only $0.39 cents per ounce over spot from Goldmart, which seems to be about the best price on the planet right now. Anyway, it looks totally different from the last J&M bar I bought from them. First of all, it's apparently a Johnson Matthey & Mallory bar instead of just a Johnson & Matthey bar. Second, it says "Canada" on it. Third, it has a Candian maple leaf symbol. And fourth, it has a big old sticker on the back that says, "United International Silver Bullion Ltd." Has anybody seen these before? Is Johnson Matthey & Mallory a different company than Johnson & Matthey or just an earlier (or later) version of the same company? And who (or what) is "United International Silver Bullion Ltd."? Anyway, here come the pics: And, just for the heck of it, here is my current "hoard" of 100-ounce silver bars:

What a monster? As an aside, congrats on breaking that bizarre silver declining price losing streak. You no longer have canary in the coal mine status.

Well, the price of silver did dip another 30-40 cents right after I purchased this, but yeah, it bounced back nicely after that for a change.

Thanks, Amaths! A little Google searching turned up an old auction from 2010 with the following description: Quote: This listing is for (1) 100 oz silver bar. Not the modern style of silver bullion bars, but the old collectable bars that have been around for quite some time. This is a Johnson Matthey & Mallory 100 oz. .999+ fine silver bar. Produced prior to 1974 when Mallory was still part of the company, this old bar survived the great Hunt silver rush and meltdown of the early '80s. Very nice Canadian produced bar worthy of adding to anyone's collection or investment bucket. I bought this purely as silver bullion, but now I'm wondering whether it has any special collector value over and above the silver value...

Really? I think it gives the bar a bit of character, personally...

Have you figured out what USIB stands for?

If you mean UISB, I'm assuming it stands for United International Silver Bullion Ltd.

Bar is pretty rare for a 100oz bar, I have seen a few of these. Poured in the late 70's before JM dropped the Mallory The leaf indicates Canada as well as the Canada Assay stamp Too bad the sticker wasnt in better condition as it lists the bars serial number in red

Seriously? Does "pretty rare" mean it has any collectible value above spot? Maybe I should try selling in on ebay or something and then use the proceeds to buy a bigger bar...

That a sticker would drive my OCD nuts as well, but like you said you think it gives it personality so to each their own as always....
Real nice bar and I like the J&Mz with the maple leaf stamp....

i would say you could easily get above spot. $3200+ for the bar, because it is from the 70's and a Canadian bar If that sticker was mint, with the matching box with the serial number than $4000+
