I've enjoyed the discussions here from time to time about which year would make the greatest "mint set." I think 1921 and 1916 are probably the strong contenders. However, 1943 is the poor man's runner-up. With silver nickels and steel cents, it's a cool year. I've been working for a few months to assemble this set. The coins all have good eye appeal, though a few of them are really only AU. My camera had difficulty focusing through the glare of the Capital Holder, but enjoy the pics anyway...

Fantastic nice looking set. I really like that idea so much better than many others I've seen. Yours is highly unusual and it looks great. Nice case. Where did you buy that one. Wonder how that would look with those press on Gold Letters/Numbers that Whitman sells.

Great looking set, one you can be proud of and a good one to pass onto the next generation when the time is right.

Congratulations on the completion of your 1943 wartime "Mint set" it looks great! A tip for photographing coins in Capital Plastics holders, when you're ready to take the picture remove the top clear panel only and snap the picture. Place the panel back on without the screws, hold it in place and repeat for the back side. Once the pictures have been taken then put the screws back in. This way you won't have to take the picture through the plastic and you are not handling the coins. Ed ANA LM-3175

Gyrene- good tip. I may do that later this week.
I got the Capital Holder from Jake's Marketplace or Coin Supply Express. Can't remember which. Capital Holders aren't cheap, but I really like them. I'm a sucker for them.

Yeah, I've seen a set on ebay once in a while. I haven't seen any that sold. I put my set together for less than $250, including buying the holder.

I like this one especially given the one year only steel cents.
