Seems like a good price, IMO. Nice coin.

Really? That's shocking. Numismedia list at 258 for this grade. And on ebay, they are anywhere from 200-350 for PCGS XF40.

Something about the "S" mintmark on it looks funny/odd... almost like it was stamped into the die upside-down...

2013 RedBook has it at 200. I paid 180 for a PCGS MS.60 back when silver was 40 dollars an oz. It's a shame it does have that mint mark it would be worth around 1,300

PCGS price guide is 300 for that coin. I actually paid 230 for it. Have never seen an MS Trade dollar sell for the price you say you got yours for.

So mine should be worth around 2,000, but it's not. Yours is a 200 dollar coin PCGS does not make it worth a penny more.

So your coin is raw? Most collectors would not touch a raw Trade dollar because of all the fakes. I like the toned look of the coin I just bought. 230 might be more than you paid but I think it was a fair price for that coin.

He did say it was graded earlier. Maybe cracked it out. I did find a completed listing on ebay for 200 for xf 40 pcgs coin so jsbruton was correct on the 200 part. Not a steal on the coin but I would not describe it as taken to cleaners either.

Yes it is in my type set. I do NOT buy from ebay I travel the States going to high end auctions, plus I authenticate coins and if I was you I would be worried about your upside down S and with that I'm not so sure yours is real. I have passed several known fakes past them without being caught. I DO NOT buy slabs I buy coins, A slab means someone paid way too much.

jsbruton, I'm not sure your posts' "tone" is all that encouraging to people who are just asking for opinions and guidance...

Quote: 230 might be more than you paid but I think it was a fair price for that coin. You got a nice coin for a solid price. Dont worry about someone saying they got a better deal, theres almost always going to be someone who paid less and someone who paid more. Theres always going to be know it alls as well. While you didnt get an earth shattering deal you didnt get taken to the cleaners either. If youre happy with the coin I wouldnt worry if you may have paid a little bit to much

It looks nice...but the contrast difference on the wear high points versus the remainder of the coin is an acquired taste. I think that $250 ppd is a good deal myself with the PCGS trends going for $300. As far as paying too much for slabs...that is a matter of opinion. I have been burned on raw coins too many times and "I" like the security of a TPG coin over raw. To each their own. I know, there are quite a few people who go by past auctions/sales to determine "value". Heck if that were the case, I would still be looking to acquire my 7070 coins for those "going rates". I am willing to pay extra for quality and variety. It is like the (ex-PCGS) Trade dollar that I have in Buy It Now, it is not for everybody, but someday someone may take a shine to it.
