I was off the grid in Branson, MO this past weekend, and was given a "Second Chance offer" on a Trade dollar which I was the runner up. The offer was made on Saturday, and by the time I got around to checking my emails and ebay listings, the time had expired. Turns out that it was for "One Day" offer, 24 hours. I have had made these second chance offers before and used the "three day" offer to give the potential buyer a chance to receive the message and think about it for a little bit. How long would you think that this type of offer should be placed for? One day is too short of a notice for me since I don't live on the computer. What do you think?

Yeah agree. One day too short. I miss them if they are just one day. Contact seller and see if he/she still wants to sell it to you, if you are still interested. Sometimes, I worry that the top bidder in these situations was a shill, so only go after it if you think the coin is legit and seller has nice history, and if the price you were at is not overpriced.

It is 100% up to the discretion of the seller and I bet they understand the "risk" associated with a 1 day offer. I wouldn't be surprised if they have experience with second chance offers and see that 90%+ acceptance occurs within the first 24 hours. Or maybe they are just impatient and don't want to string things out another 2 days. I love the irony of your user name taking issue with someone who doesn't want to wait 3 days for an answer. :)

He/She may have already given a second chance offer to the third highest bidder.( If that is within the ebay rules) Personally, I always see the second chance offer as the shill bidder won the auction and walk away and don't look back.

OneBowl, LOL, sometimes my user name works against me, like this case. Oh well, thanks for the insight.

Lol the username irony is amazing. But like others have said generally if you dont hear back in a day you dont hear back. If there were several acceptable bids may just be giving each one a day

It depends on the item that I am selling. If the item got a lot of attention and bids I will probably offer a 1-day second chance. If the item didn't have much action(not many hits/watches) I'll send a 3-day second chance.
Most times when I send out a second chance I'm already irritated because the first buyer backed out. If I think the item can sell quickly again, I'm not going to wait 3+ days for 1 buyer to respond. If I think it's going to take a while to resell again, I don't mind waiting 3 days or so.
