Hi,

I recently found a 1972 s penny in a box of pennies and was able to complete a lincoln memorial set and was woundering if it would be a good idea to tip the teller that gave me the box. I go in there a lot and get boxes from them. I would imagine if I gave a tip to a teller that I would be able to go in there when ever I wanted to get coins.

Anyone have any experience with tipping tellers when you find rare coins. What has been the results as far as continuing to withdraw more coins from the bank?

I work at a gas station and this guy would always come in on my shift and play 777 and would play a dollar a ticket and buy 200 dollars on that one number several times a week. One time he won and came in and gave me 50 dollars. Apparently he made like 20,000 when he won and now when he comes in I'm always ready to help him with a big smile on my face. He said that in Casinos you always tip the dealer when you win and it's sort of like a tradition or something.

Anyone have any experience or stories about tipping tellers when they give you a rare coin in a box of coins?

Also can anyone recommend a app for a smart phone that's a scale so I can weigh my 1982 pennies. I want to put them in my folder so that way it's complete but can't because I don't know which ones are copper and which are zinc and don't really feel like purchasing a scale and don't know were I could even get one and feel as if there has to be some other way to do it thanks.

I would think most wouldn't be allowed to accept any type of monetary tip. As for an app for your phone, I would just break down and buy a cheapie from ebay or harbor freight.

Tellers likely wont accept a tip unless its a plate of cookies or something. If they do, they might get in trouble.
1982 pennies... Just flick them in the air and listen for a ringing sound.
Ring=copper, thud=zinc.

I do not understand how it would even be possible for a phone app to generate weight measurements

I buy chocolates for the banks I frequent about once a month. They are not able to accept personal gifts, definitely not money. As a branch they can accept gifts so the chocolates go in the staff room for everyone to enjoy. It keeps them happy to serve me. I would definitely not try tipping the tellers with cash. Try getting a small gift for the branch instead.

I like very much your approach, enworb.
Tell the teller whom you wish to thank the following:
"Please share these with your co-workers."
Chocolates, cookies or whatever. That way, ALL of the tellers will be happy to see you the next time
that you visit.
But not money. Not in a bank branch.

Been roll hunting for a few years. If you want silver to dry up, start tipping (off) the tellers.
When I listen to LED ZEPPELIN...so do my neighbors...
Roll hunting since '77
Dirt fishing since '72
