This one does not seem quite right. Take a shot and I will post the slab grade later.

I also think this may be a VAM and will post it on that forum latter.

Jim the three black evenly spaced marks on the reverse rim are the foam keepers on the slab. The reverse rim is perfect, just hard to show in the slab. Jim

The mint mark is unusual to me. I will add it for your thoughts, also.

Looks like a GSA holder to me. That's a nice one. MS-64 is my call.

I agree with Terry on the MS-65. She is beautiful!!

As for the mint mark...Is the fact that the one C on the CC is set lower than the other?

VAM 3 III23 · C3c (Doubled Date & Ear, Spiked Wing) Obverse- Doubled date with 1 slightly doubled below bottom crossbar. First 8 slightly doubled on left and right inside of upper loop. Second 8 and 2 doubled at top and upper left side. Date set close to rim. Ear slightly doubled at lower right inside and bottom outside.

Reverse - Right C of mint mark set low. Two short diagonal die gouges on inside of eagle's left wing next to body.

Man, you guys and gals are GOOD! Amazing pick-up CristinaM on the VAM without the enlargements. Here is the grading and enlagements, Jim.

I'm of the opinion that it might grade MS-65. I have seen 65s by NGC that were not this good. Is the abrasion on the face that bad? Should I resubmit it?
Curious, does this VAM effect it's value?

Jim,
I have seen some MS65's that didn't look as good as this one also. I don't know that I would resubmit it at this time. All the (reputable) grading companies are pretty tight fisted with their grading right now.

Jim, it's a very high end 64 pl, but that scratch on the cheek precludes it from a higher grade. Very nice coin!
