Hello All,

First time poster here.

I Was hoping someone could help me identify a couple of coins I've had for a few years now (if indeed they are coins, tokens or any form of currency).

They are just shy of being the same diameter as a British 5 Pence piece. Having a look around the internet they look like they could be of Indian origin?.

Any help would be great. Also if a date can be provided (rough estimate) then that would be very interesting.

Thanks in advance

H,

The top coin is a Jital from the Sultans of Dehli (Khaljis), specificially from the ruler "Jalal al-Din Firuz Shah AH689-695/AD1290-1296"

Hi Bacchus2, nice to see you here.I fully agree with your identification of the first coin.
The second coin is of Muhammad bin Tughlak, 1325-1351.AD D-377, Goron and Goenka

Hi drnsreedhar,

Good ID on that second one, I've yet to pick up a copy of the Goron and Goenka

reference. It's high on my list, but it is very pricy.

@ Bacchus2:)

The Fitzwilliam museum has a very good on-line gallery of Indian coins.

I am posting a link. Please try your luck.

For sultanate coins, try this one. Details of each coin can be had from the detail tab.

No problem Dragoon. And sorry for having a conversation in the middle of your thread :)

Thanks for the links drnsreedhar. I visit and post quite a lot of coins on Zeno which is another great site, but it's good to have as many sources as possible.
