Hi everyone,

Just posting this thread to get some opinions on whether you guys think this particular coin would be considered artificially or "questionably" toned by a top tier TPG. What about a lower grading service such as ICG? Do the two have different standards for market acceptable toning?

If so, what about the toning screams fake? & how can one properly distinguish a market acceptable eagle from a non market acceptable example?

I'd love to hear your opinions! Thanks

Id say it was with the spotting happening. Id be more concerned about the giant thumb print though personally

But just something about that just doesn't look right to me

That's actually not a thumb print, that is how the coin is toned.

Sure looks like a fingerprint to me that the toning enhanced.

The toning was affected by oils left from a fingerprint. I have seen many SAEs toned with those orange/violet hues due to being in contact with the felt lining of a dealer display case. IMO, it is perfectly natural for .999 bullion silver to be toned like that but whether a TPG sees it that way is an entirely different matter.

Bob, Good call. I see the toning as not unique antotally see the Large fingerprint across the Eagle's Right wing, the shield, up to the lower 4 stars too..........Just my opinion!

Don't want to be a broken record, but these guys got it right on. Toning doesn't look all that artificial to me. Thumb print was left pre-toning.
