Picked this up from a seller in the USA last year.Does anyone think that there are bargains to be had by concentrating on US dealers/sellers?

Yeah, but always a risk of the letter going missing, only lost 2 over the years but still a worry, one was a $50 1946 penny, the envelope was delivered but had been opened & taped up with nothing inside. The listing of the Coin & value on the customs certificate stuck on the front of the envelope must be a temptation.

If your happy to buy from the US and well anywhere overseas then yeah go for it they usually are cheaper on prices for OZ coins, but you always have to be careful for copies. I have had a few good buys from overseas, but they are few and far between, like 99.9% of my buys still come from OZ "not an accurate percentage" I always consider postage cost, quality, and can I buy better in OZ for the same price. Most of the time postage is the deal breaker if I am only buying one coin, and the postage is as much as the coin.

I've been very lucky to date Basil and have had some high value shipments come through but usually had a tracking number to follow, they can take up to a month to arrive which can be very nerve wracking

That good news Stevo.,you definitly need tracking or Insurance on anything of value.I've been thinking since I posted,I've only lost one item from the USA,the 1946 Penny, the other coin was posted from the UK which brings me to another item I lost. There used to be a guy on UK ebay with item listed as being in London but he was in fact from Israel.I purchased a holder(early form of slabbing) for a 1938 Crown off him,no coin just the plastic holder, anyway it was delivered empty with all this Australia Post tape on it with a stamp saying it was already opened when sorted at the Mail centre.Poor thief, probaly thought he was getting a $100+ coin, instead he got a $5 plastic case.
