Hi everyone, First post here. Bin lurking for a while. I was at the local market today with the coin jar that the wife and I fill on occasion. I ran a bunch of coins through a counter today to do some shopping with and this was one of the rejects that it spit back out. Question now is there any foreseeable value or is it a fake? one pic shows smooth edge. the other shows no dating on the front. I also did a search for 2008 and cant find it on the web.

I am not even sure what it is supposed to be impersonating. No value there.

Looks like someone tried to make a quarter from memory, really bad memory. Any larger pics?

and congrats on de-lurking. :) "God Bless America"? That's not on any quarter I'm aware of, and this is one strange looking "quarter". with the above posts; that's not even close to the real article so I'm not sure what's going on here. And Northern Mariana Islands quarter came out in 2009, not 2008, by the way. Aside from the mint mark ("S"), here's what the quarter should look like: Regardless of its BS-itude, I doubt that at $0.25, an average retail clerk would even question it in a transaction.

Could be a mint error. Greese filled die or something no?

Quote: Could be a mint error. Greese filled die or something no? Negative, Ghostrider. Not a chance. And "greese"? Really? Compare the picture of the authentic coin with the slug. Like OldSkoolMadSkilz said, it looks like someone tried to counterfeit this quarter from memory. And clearly there was a lot of Jack Daniels clouding said memory.

As CelticKnot pointed out, it says "God Bless America" on it. Not an American coin!

Sometimes Reader's Digest (and the like) issue coins to commemorate something and they often get separated from the paperwork.
This coin is so obviously different there has not been an effort to 'counterfeit', so there is no need to identify on the 'coin' that it is a 'joke' coin.
I am guessing that the 'counter' spat it out based on the weight (or lack thereof).
