just wondering what you guys think, my father just gave this coin to me, very reflective deep mirror and frosty cameo, do you think it is an actual proof or just proof like? I am going to send it to ANACS with a few other coins he gave me but am to excited and would like your opinions thanks Kris

I think what you have is a Proof-Like 1886. Here is a photo of a PCGS PF-64 1886. The rim on the proof is much sharper than that on your coin. The lettering on the proof is also sharper.

I'm getting it slabbed, what grade grade would you put on this. There is zero wear, and only a couple of scratches on obverse

Kman: I guess that you are aware of the rather deep rim ding near the tip of the eagle's wing, 1 o'clock, (reverse).
Otherwise, an exceptional coin. The eagle's breast feathers are just as sharp as they are on the proof.
From these pictures: MS63PL, details.

Sel 691 did you have to remind me haha I wish it was never there, but the fields are so reflective in person that your eye really doesn't go towards it! My favorite thing about this coin is the reverse, strong strike and no wear, and some the strongest breast feathers I've seen on a Morgan, but I've only just started collecting so.......

Kman I wish you the best, Welcome to the "Anna's" collecting World.....( the models first name on the Morgans Obverse ), I would see the grade being a MS-64 PL Details.......What a sweet begining!! Mike.... :) PS, The rim is much too busy.

Kman, have you checked the reflectivity of the Morgan yet? DMPL Reflectivity Scale Here is the scale that denotes the proper designation for the coin, based on reflectivity: •Semi-Prooflike (SPL) - 1 to 2 inches, devices must be frosted •Prooflike (PL) - 2 to 4 inches of reflectivity •Deep Mirror Prooflike (DMPL) - More than 4 inches •Ultra Prooflike (UPL) - At least 8 inches

Nope I never knew that's how you check the reflectivity, thanks for the info!! But it is too late cause I just sent it along with 10 coins off to ANACS to be graded.

I'll be interested to see the result. It's my opinion the rim dings won't keep it out of a righteous slab.
