14 of my silver halves came from my local coin dealer as are my three silver Ikes. The other silver halves were given to me when I was 12 at the oldest.
All but two of the Ikes I have are from tellers at banks, both my bank and not.

Mostly from consignment/antique shops. Rarely ever change the prices to match spot so usually get good deals.

Most of my junk silver was acquired years ago as collateral acquisition with other coins in job lots. I have a small number of Walkers in about F condition, along with around 100 90% dimes and perhaps 200 or so junk silver coins from around the World thrown in.
Interesting little accumulation of junk World silver. Stored loose in an old tobacco tin.
Interesting for kids to look through, and learn about coins that circulated long ago. They get to handle actual silver coins in their little fingers. It is this sort of collection that captures some kids attention and turns them into collectors, a decade later.

What I mean by Coinstar is luck. I mean finding a handful of silver in the reject tray instead of using Coinstar to find silver.

My dad left me a few ounces of 90%. I decided to really start stacking at that point, and I've been seriously roll hunting about a year. I usually have good luck with teller trays, but have found some good rolls recently. I sell all the 40% I find, and buy 90% and .999. I've quadrupled my stack...

I currently have 63 silver half dollars in my collection, including 10 1964 uncirculated sets I got from APMEX below spot one time when they were slow to raise prices as spot rose. I also have other pre 1964 proof and unc sets and silver proof sets since 2005. My half collection is rounded with a dozen or so individual Walker and Franklin coins mostly picked up at Heritage auctions.

I have found 27 90% and 146 40% Roll Hunting. I also purchased some from Local Coin Shop and upgraded my Kennedy Album. I and got most of them for around spot. All of the coins in my Franklin Album are BU or MS for which I paid a small premium.

I got most of my silver Kennedy half dollars and Franklin half dollars at just over current melt values over the past two years. Probably a good deal for the person who sold me the coins since I suspect that they got most of ones I purchased either at face or at low melt. Good deal for me since they are not that common over here in the UK. Ken

"Saved from the past" Advantage of being an Auld Pharte. Started collecting in the mid 50's. Roll searched and out of circulation. Complete Franklin set, Walker set minus 9, 2 rolls of Barbers, 5 rolls of Walkers + 2 rolls of Franklins. Can't tell you how many Franklin rolls went back to the bank after I got what I needed at the time. Lastly a BU roll of 64 Kennedys from the bank when they came out. That's about when wine, women and song took over my interests (plus a few other diversions of the 60's). Thankfully, I was able to put it all away and not think about it until I neared retirement and found CCF.

Did anyone, before silver got expensive, already foresaw the future of silver?
