No contest.
No "dancing smilies." [OK - just one]
No bragging ... (well, I'll try.)
Just some thoughts.
I came to this forum on the suggestion of a poster on another forum. It took me no time at all to conclude that this was the place for me. For reasons which pertain to my situation I have been consolidating my collection of 50+ years. Using coins that I have no desire to keep,
I have either been selling them or trading them for coins that I do want to collect. Along this journey I have kept my sister informed about what I am doing and why I am doing it. She has given me her approval.
Do you see my problem?
I still want to keep my hand in the coin collecting world!
I had already found an outlet for my small talent for writing. I joined the Barber Coin Collector's Society, AKA BCCS, [
http://www.barbercoins.org/] and after a few years started to write a few, short contributions. These "Barber Bits" became a full, three page report of the first appearance of the BCCS at a major regional show. [We were in Philly earlier this month.]
A second, complete article was then submitted and one day,
when I started to read the current Journal I found my name listed as a contributing editor!
A victim of my own success, my last communication with our editor revealed that, in a small way due to my "agenda"
to coerce other members to write something of their own,
there might not be enough room for my last submission in the upcoming issue.
WELL, that is fine by me!
You see, I have the CCF!

Here I can share what little knowledge I have acquired over the years and learn quite a lot from others. And not just about the Barbers but about all coins.
There was a commercial some years ago for a breakfast cereal which went something like this:
"The adult in me appreciates the nutrition ...
but the kid in me likes the taste!"
My analysis of the CCF:
The adult in me appreciates the scholarly learning of others ... but the kid in me enjoys the enthusiasm exhibited by the new members!
I just may have to stay here a L O N G while!
