I'm $5 in to my very first $100 of pennies. I wanted to get a good whack of rolls to tuck in and see if I like it. So far I do, but I could really use a dedicated sorting area or at least some kit that I could spread out and have everything I need. A comfy chair is real high on the list. Kitchen chairs are good for a length of a meal but not much longer.

What do you guys have? What's on your workspace?

I agree! I have a swivel leather rolling chair I use for searching. Its Very nice! I also have a desk in my room covered in coin stuff.
But as for sorting pennies I put coppers in a can, then lay wheats face down in lines of 5. Then canadians and nice zinclons and coppers I put in a nother pile then sort them into jars when I'm done.

When I open a roll, I seperate the coppers and possible varieties into different piles then throw the zincs in a can for the bank. Hope this helps!

I just use my kitchen table/any other table big enough to hold all the coins I'm searching. A dedicated searching area would be nice, but I can't really complain about my current setup.

old footrest with the decades written on it, also doubles as 1-10 to sort the years, and 12v led strip lighting just over my shoulder. and the seat I'm sitting in right now, a big comfy lounge chair and arm rests that can hold about 5 stacks of coins across them without worry of being near the edge.

Much to the Mrs dismay I hijack the kitchen table. Dedicated space would be nice but I think I'm dreaming.

My laptop & leather swivel desk chair are set up at the dining room table. I don't roll search anymore but am organizing & cataloging what I pulled out of circulation 50 yrs ago. I get fairly messy at times but as long as I leave about half of the table space for the wife's crafting, recipes, etc. . . I don't catch too much crap unless she is expecting visitors.
Rest in Peace

Glass is excellent, but will scratch horribly over time.

Coins are filthy, even new ones. You want something you can clean.

Masonite or hard plastic is good.

For a great solution to this problem, just win the lottery and buy a house big enough to have a separate room for coins.
Or buy a second house just for coins in every room. Then you could have a specific table for each type of coin. And too a separate room for each type of coin.
If you did win the lottery or inherit a large sum of money, you could just hire someone to sort through coins for you.
Or with enough money you could just buy the coins you want and not have to search anything, anywhere, ever.
Therefore the obvious answer to this is just get rich.

We use the kitchen table - it's large and can accomodate the laptop and coins.

Buy a bank building. I've kicked myself over not doing exactly that.

I use the floor of my den most of the time. But - I'm going to build a built-in desk unit about 10 feet long along one wall in there this spring which will become my coin/work area. I've used the kitchen table, but I get the stink eye from my wife when I do.

Our kitchen table is quite large with lots of space. At I night I sit there with a laptop. The cabinets too are large enough to keep my books there.

I have a dedicated space, but I've allowed access to other family members, and am now crowded out. We have adult kids who store stuff at our place, and my husband repairs computers and has a huge amount of computer related junk-00ps, sorry, Stuff.

It is nice to be able to shut the door on the whole uproar when interruptions occur. But every surface is covered with stuff, so keeping order is all but impossible. Boo hoo. Poor me!

I have a TV on my kitchen table.
And a laptop.
And I use it to examine coins.
Oh, just occasionally I also use the table to eat something.

I use the coffee table, but not for coins in flips. I have ferrets and they've been known to steal them.

I use the floor in the computer room BUT the granddaughter has learned to walk today so I'm having to move everything from the floor and make it child proof.
