I would love to buy this coin, but I don't think it will happen . It's a 1995-W PF70 American Silver Eagle. One of only 78 graded by NGC (PCGS shows only 1 graded) per the Heritage Auction site. That is the pinnacle of the ASE series for sure! What a beautiful coin. Currently it's at $12,100 and the reserve has not been met. Interestingly, the NGC price shows as $10,500, but I don't know if you can put a real value on this coin since it is so rare. Here is the link to the auction:

That really is a gorgeous coin. I can't even imagine what he set the reserve at. If he got it in the Anniversary Set, he stands to make a fortune regardless of what it sells for. To put a reserve on it is very foolish. All that does is increase the fees and chase some bidders away. There are people who will not bid on an auction with a reserve.

I have to agree with you. I think it's the individual coin, though, not the set. I don't know why he is including the COA and box with it. That makes no sense to me.

When I saw the PCGS coin guide showing a price of $35,000, I couldn't believe it. But, if there is only one graded that high, it makes more sense. Still, one of 78 graded by NGC is really rare. I wish I had the money since I love this series, and I will be watching it to see if the reserve is met. I'm very curious on this one. This seller sells a lot of higher end stuff and gets high prices for them. And he doesn't take Paypal either. I don't think you will see this grade of coin for sale very often.

Well, the final price was $18,500 and the reserve was NOT met! That is crazy!

It has to make you wonder where the 20th anniversary gold proof will end up. Although I'm sure there will be more than 78 70 grades on it.
