I am trying desperately to properly photograph coins when I want to post them into a forum. However, this is all I am able to do. Not sure where I am going wrong. I know I am close. I take the picture and can get it into photobucket, but not sure how to get it into a thread from photobucket. Also, how to I put two pics side by side using this? Thanks, just trying to get better.

Well first, I would change my lighting to a tungusten shade of white. That will improve things a lot in regards to color.

The coin doesn't appear to be quite round, usually due to the camera not being directly square over the coin.. What kind of camera are you using?,,,many times camera's have some adjustments on there menus which greatly effect how well you can take any coin type pictures.. even if they are the point and shoot type, improvements can be made...
Things like metering "spot" or "center weighted"
Aperture, shutter speed and white balance settings are the first things to work out depending on the camera and the lens involved...there are some great old threads on these kind of subjects that have been gone over and explain what there all mean to coin shooting....

I agree with both statements. If you have a custom White Balance I would use it by putting a piece of white paper under the lights you are going to use and then use that as a custom wb. Then I would make sure the camera is looking straight down onto the coin instead of at an angle. If you can do both of these I believe you will be happier with your picture results. As far as putting the coins side by side you would have to add them to the forum the way you already have and then make sure there are no spaces between the img tags. Even then sometimes the forum will make them on top of each other automatically as it re-sizes the forum but thats about all you can do, that is of course if you are talking about how your post looks now above after I removed the spaces between the end img tag of the first picture and the beginning img tag of the next picture

Again, thanks for the help. My last question is, how do I get the image to appear bigger in the message box. I am working on the pics in photobucket, then save them to My Pics and then upload from there. But everyone else has the large pics with the 'dashed' edges and as you can see I have these small postage stamps that no one can see. What setting am I missing during the upload? Thanks folks.

Have you tried using the image optimizer without going to photobucket ?

upload the pics straight to the forum your posting in, set them at the largest size you want to have them on your pc and the image optimizer will adjust them to fit the forum.
