I bought these two pennies, but the seller offered no indication of what grade they might be. I've not a clue, so your opinion would be greatly welcome.

I hope you didnt pay much for them because they are both harshly cleaned. The first one on details alone is probably aVF and the second one around F. The cleaning more or less nulifies any value

I am afraid I will have to agree with Emword, both are harshly cleaned :( and I do hope you have not over paid!
When sellers say they dont know what they are or what grade they are, they are usually full of s....
They know exactly what they are selling.

If you paid more than a couple bucks and you can get a refund then I would give it a shot unless youre happy with them cleaned. Each to their own.

Luckily I paid very little for them as I suspected that on close inspection they'd prove to have been cleaned. Thanks for your comments and confirmation. I'll chalk it up to yet another learning experience and pat myself on the back for also thinking the first one was aVF when I bought it.

First one Very Fine and second one Almost Fine if they hadn't been cleaned. Seeing as they have some people tend to knock off a grade, however I still grade them as is, but the fact they are cleaned, they are worth a few cents each.
