Hey guys, I was just wondering what is the best way to store your coins, or how do you store your coins?

I out all my coins in 2x2 holders and then in album pages and a 2 ring binder. They are consistently presented that way and I like being able to write a few details on the 2x2.

Four ring binders are better, but they are much harder to find. I use old trade sample catalogue binders. It follows that my binders don't look much like coin albums, due to the commercial graphics printed on the covers. At least I got them for free!
An album page filled with 20 crown sized coins can weigh a bit. That can put huge stresses on the holes through which the binder rings go.

4 ring binders are the best in my opnion...
I have one which I started my collection in 25 years ago which now holds my British coins only...sadly I cannot find any more of this particular kind (it has sturdy transparent pages which the coins cannot fall out of)
I have another one which is a close match that holds my Australian coins (the pages are not transparent but very slightly frosted in look, and not as sturdy)
I have 2 "lighthouse Numis" binders which hold world coins (these are a smaller album so don't hold as many coins. They are three ring binders which are OK as the pages are smaller)
I have a 3 ring large binder holding my American coins (the coins can fall out if turned upside down, and I suspect that the plastic is not great quality...I wish to replace it at some stage)
I have two binders holding Mint cards of the Eurozones last money, and the Euro's they replaced with.
I then have a box containing boxed sets and coins in original mint cards and 3 old whitman folders.
I have 3 large velvet boxes which contain trays...these hold my larger coins and coins in capsules.
I have 3 binders holding banknotes also.

Go to the search link at the top of the page and enter search term "store coins"; select "Subject only" option and you will get links to quite a lot of previous discussions on exactly this topic.

Coins are like babies: they appear fragile when in reality they are strong. Speaking only for myself, I do not worry. I have raw coins tossed into a dozen different places. No protection at all! And I sleep well at night.

Quote: No protection at all! And I sleep well at night. Wish I share your carefree outlook. I have my coins and bullion stored in a safe bolted to the ground with bolt heads ground round. Hidden in a secret room, behind a false wall. Streaming video cameras, alarm sensors, a loaded shotgun rigged to the entrance on a hair trigger... And two Doberman Pinscher`s roaming the area! LOL

I like Saflips as they are a universal size for most coins. I got sick of stocking up on all the different cardboard 2x2 sizes. I agree a binder with the more rings the better and pvc free. 20 pocket album pages hold the 2x2's well, make sure these are pvc free, polypropylene is the way to go.

I agree 4 rings would be better but then only one I could find with four rings were too thin. I think I could probably only fit 4-5 pages instead of 15. Until I find a thick 4 ring i'll stick to 2.
2x2s are very expensive compared to saflips and cant be reused either. Do you put them into album pages PP?

There are a lot of sellers on ebay so you should be able to get them for a reasonable price

@enworb: You can reuse the 2x2s if you use tape instead of staples.
I use 3-D-ring binders. The D allows me to flip the pages faster and they stack neatly instead of curving around an O-ring. I haven't even seen coin pages with more or less than 3 holes. I use the ones with reinforced pages with brass rings for the holes instead of those cheap blue ones that smell and aren't cut properly sometimes.

I use a 4 ring binder and saflips for the storage inside the pockets. I also use the Dansco Supreme albums for all my date sets.
