I seen people on here talking about pocket pieces which kind of reads to me that people just keep a certain coin with them in their pocket a lot of the time. I never really heard of a pocket piece before. How many of you carry a pocket piece with you and what coin (or coins) is it? I'm just curious. Thanks for any replies.

I tried doing a search on pocket pieces and really couldn't find anything. Just something I never heard of until I got this site. It sounds interesting, was just curious what people carry around with them and why.

As mentioned before, I used to carry an Eisenhower dollar (no surprise) for many years. I am not sure exactly why or when I quit doing it.

I have always wanted to carry one. I would just be too angry at myself if I spent it by accident.

I doubt you'd spend something THAT large, talking about halves or dollars of course.

Well, as I posted in one of the threads linked to above, I recently started carrying a pocket piece just for the heck of it:

I have two in my pocket a '71d Eisenhower and an 1880s Morgan, both in air tights.

One day we were talking about coins and I got on the topic of dollar coins. Most said that they had no use for a dollar coin and would get rid of it as soon as they could. So I decided to bring to work to show them some of the different dollar coins that were minted a Presidential, Sac, Susan B, Eisenhower, Peace, and a Morgan. One of the wits that worked for me wanted to know why the recent ones were so much smaller that the older ones. I told him that the newer ones just weren't worth anything compared to older ones. He thought that I was kidding him, until I told him that the older ones were minted with precious metals and the newer ones were not.

They had never seen a Morgan or Peace dollar before and some had never seen an Eisenhower. I was going to bring in some of my halves but decided against it because I didn't want to advertise what one of my hobbies were.
