Well I'm trying to get a better pic. But you can definately see that the strike was after the planchet was altered. I was just wondering was it part of the end the roll where it should have been scrapped ? I Have'nt got a clue , but thought it was interesting and if anybody could tell me anything it would be here, I respect and enjoy seeing all the stuff that comes through this forum.

I'd like to see better photos. I'm not sure but it could be struck though(something).

Thank you Mod dudes for combining these threads for our newest valued member ... you are the best.

I am thinking your coin Cheeks is a true mint error ... I am not an expert on these ... however ... I am going to offer an opinion of obverse struck-through unidentified object.

What I see ...

The reverse is normal ... no signs of mechanical manipulation (vice grips, etc)

The obverse fields show significant random depressions ... and the coins rims appear to be intact.

My opinion ... struck through something. Nice find indeed if validated by the experts.

Mind you ... my opinion is given as an amateur with limited experience in this particular field of numismatics.

With the new pics, even though they are a little out of focus it looks like a struck through and not PMD.The pros will have to confirm what it is exactly.Nice find,

The rough surface of the obverse of this coin is NOT the result of damage. It is struck-through something - exactly what, I could not tell. The difference between a struck-through and damage is obvious.
