I am working on trying to identify a foreign planchet that has jumped into a barrel of blanks that struck Australian Coins at the Royal Australian Mint.

It's a 1992 3.8g holed planchet that's magnetic. Does anyone have any ideas about what country/denomination this rogue planchet should have been for.

No pics, sorry. All in good time though, have you got your latest copy of CAB magazine?

A danish 1 Kroner weighs slightly less and is copper-nickel, not magnetic. Great suggestion though I can't even come close.

Diameter of the coin is 20.62mm. It is well struck but cannot say for certain if the planchet was intended for this size due to metal hardness and the hole in the middle. It could always be just a washer!

How big is the hole? Would be nice to compare it against a coin such as 10 cent coin.

5mm hole. It's too small to think that it is part of a bi-metal planchet.

Brain strain, you may need to add thickness or PLAN B
Search this site, I will do a quick search for 1990 coins, or coin with hole
