I realize some people might be hesitant to reveal this number to the world, but... what is the most amount of money you're ever spent to purchase a single coin? And what was the coin? (Don't worry, we won't judge.)

It's funny, I was thinking about this recently. I've put together several sets with hard-to-find key dates (including V nickels, Walking Liberty halves), I have some cool coins like 32-S and 32-D quarters, 5-ounce silver ATB Quarters, but the most I've paid is for a 1913-S type II Buffalo nickel to complete my set.

I would suggest reasking this in poll forum with different options. People will be more likely to respond in that manner than state it out right

I bought this coin many moons ago for around $800. I thought it was never to reach that price again so I carried it as a pocket piece with a silver dollar to see the reactions of cashiers when I used change to make purchases. No one recognised the $20 gold price but they wanted to see the silver dollar. It's now in my 7070 set.

I spent $250, waaaay back in 1967, on an Adelaide Pound.

Was disposed of just before I married, as part of a collection of a type set of key date of Australians, and a few good ancients, to raise 1/3 deposit of the value of our first house.

Because of that sale, I have never had to pay rent in my life.

Around $2000 for a gold bullion coin. For circulating coinage, I think around $400 each for a couple of my wheat cents.

The most I ever spent?

http://coins.ha.com/c/item.zx?saleN...o=8073#Photo

I am holding it in my hand as I write this.

And no, I did NOT buy it from Heritage.
I bought it from a private collector about seven years ago. For $4,775 give or take.
And NO, I do not think that this collector bought it from Heritage either.

Not too shabby.

YEAH Barber dimes!

Put $6000 in your pocket and just TRY to buy one at any major show.
As nice as this one.
SO MANY are OOPS --- cleaned, scratched, worn smooth as ice, etc.etc.

Even my brother-in-law had to admit that it was nice.

Sometimes, you just have to ignore the Greysheet.

It will be available for examination at the NH Coin Expo In Manchester next month.

"Have dime, will travel."
