I would like to have some coins graded but to not know what the costs are. How do graders determine the cost of grading?

Hi Mico,

If you do not have a membership with the TPG collecting club you wish to use, you'll have to find a dealer that has a commercial account with that TPG. Check with your local brick and mortar coin dealer. Dealers might charge you a premium also.

How most TPG's determine grading charges is probably determined by some complex cost accounting method; throwing a dart at a board with many numbers. The prices, including the type of service, are posted on their Internet Home Page along with their membership fees. Some memberships come with a certain number of free submissions for grading and slabbing.

If you are a member of the ANA, you can submit your coins directly to NGC at their cost.

Good luck!

Its usually for cheaper to use a local dealer to submit coins for you. My dealer charges me a flat $25.
