I am new at selling coins and need some valuble advise. I am thinking of selling this silver peace but do not know what value I should place on it. This coin has a very nice luster and has been in the family since the 30's so there is not much wear. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Looks to be a decent AU grade. Not much difference in the value range on this one so $30.00 to $35.00 seems fair. FMV is 38 to 40 dollars.

Not that it makes much difference in value, but is that a D or S mintmark on the back?

If it were in my family since the 30's I would hang on to it for sentimental value. Pass it on to the next generation with the story. You'll feel good about it.

just remember, just because something is old and has been in the family does not mean its worth a lot of money. If this piece has a lot of sentimental, just keep it

I see an S mintmark pretty clearly (that means the San Francisco mint, Micro).

With silver prices on the rise you just might want to hang on to this coin for awhile longer. $26-28 is the wholesale price on it. Retail around $31-33.

Thanks for all of your answers! It is an s mint forgot to put that in. I just do not put sentimental values on money but do like for things to increase in value. Appreciate all the answers

keep it, its been with the family for too long to be let go for petty money. its probably worth in the 30-40 dollar range, and would be bought from a coin store for cheaper. its a nice specimen for a Peace dollar though,

Sweet coin ! I have an 1896 Morgan that my grandmother had placed under her bassinet mattress the day she was born. You couldn't buy it for a million bucks. Well, maybe a million but you get the idea.

I don't understand why you would want to sell something that has been in your family for 80 years and that only has a monetary value of $30-40. To me the sentimental value of something that had been in my family for that long would outweigh such a small monetary gain. I watch Pawn Stars and it always amazes me when someone sells a family heirloom.
