{Rant on} I returned a coin last week and it arrived on Friday, 31 Aug 2012, per USPS Delivery Confirmation notification, I even sent the seller the confirmation number. I emailed them to check on the shipment of a few coins in exchange for the returned item yesterday (05 Sep 2012), and I got the reply today; HI John:
We are shipping the coins to you today. I am glad you checked the coin came in on the 31st and was put in the safe. Thank you for the reminder.
Have a nice dayMy first thought was; why does it take a(lmost) week to send an item in which was communicated over the phone the almost two weeks prior? I called the seller and she came up with a couple of "reasons" (excuses) as to what happened between when the return item was received and when the exchange items were sent out (after I emailed her inquiring about them). I wanted to tell her to cancel the order and issue a refund, but she said that they were dropped off at the post an hour ago. Why is it so hard to get good service these days? When I sell something, once I receive payment, I print out the postage label and get it out the door. Yes, I am an individual and I am dealing with a "store" who has more customers. But it should not be this hard, (delete, delete, delete, etc...)  {Rant off}

Yea, I agree. As soon as I get payment the item(s) is packaged and shipped within 24 hours. It always mystifies me why people just sit on stuff so long and fail to rapidly communicate. If you're going to sit on something for days and day, at least tell me so I'm not left in the dark. It only takes a couple minutes to ship something and quick, email response is just part of internet trading courtesy.

Some people are not self motivated. They need some sort of stimulus to make them react.

Quote: It always mystifies me why people just sit on stuff so long and fail to rapidly communicate Ill never understand that either. It takes literally 2 minutes to package something and get postage. I'm always shocked when I order things and get an email 3 days later that it had shipped, especially from ebay.

I hate it when a seller will send you a tracking number, then take 3-5 days to get it to the post office.

Follow up email after the phone call I made;
Dear John:
First of all I apologize again that your package did not make it out on Tuesday as it should have. As you know we have been in business for over 50years and it is partly because we usually do things right and very much value our customers.
I just cannot apologize enough. At any rate here is the insured number for the package we sent today, VHXXXXXXXXXUS Hopefully it will get there promptly.
Thank you for your patience.
Sincerely,
First impressions are lasting ones, can you imagine what impression I got? I cannot look up the (insured) number that she game me;
Delivery status information is not available for your item via this web site. A return receipt after mailing may be available through your local Post Office.
...yet they have been in business for over 50 years.

I can say I've been in business for 16 years, yet I don't have THAT much experience, like you said, it's all a matter of first impressions

Only thing missing here is "This is a recording. We really have no idea what your talking about and don't really care" If this gets you mad, try calling HP Helpdesk. And try explaining in English anything. You'll hear that same reply. Want to go farther. See that phone number for the Humana Insurance on TV? Try calling that one and expect to spend a half hour playing phone switch, hold, transfer and on and on and on. Ever play that press 1, press 4, press 3 and then get cut off? Remember that most companies today inplant those answering systems to get you off the phone. And the ones that hire someone, usually for minimum wage so they too could care less about anything you have to say. So your a coin collector? The person answering your calls is on minimum rage, barely making ends meet and YOU are a coin collector! Put yourself in their shoes and you too would get an attitude. Why everyone knows all collectors are all millionairs.

This is all very discouraging, but I continue to believe it's a very small minority; the vast majority of folks I deal with are just fine. It's that 1/10th of 1 percent!

Good customer service is key, although when companies reach a certin level they seem to throw all common courtesy out the door due to their inflated image of themselves. Not sure I agree can with that, it seems to be a fairly significant percentage IMO.

Obviously communication was not this seller's strong point. In his/her defense though, it was a holiday weekend. If they were waiting to receive their coin back before sending your delivery out, then 9/4 would be the next business day. I wouldn't consider it unusual that orders prepared 9/4 would likely be posted 9/5. Granted it appears that you may have been the catalyst that got your delivery moving toward the door in the first place, I wouldn't have any problem with the time frame here.
