Last couple of times have been a bust for me at my coinstars. Finally found a few pennies and a dime. Also unrelated but just got into couponing and some of these rebate apps' deals make it feel like finding silver at a coinstar. Pretty sweet deals you can get. xD

Only two coins in the return slot today but both are keepers! Canadian Coinstars are programmed to accept US coins at face value but I'll bet they're not programmed for Sacs!

rusty, In the us, I often find sacs in slots even in machines that are programmed to accept them for whatever reason. Also, do Canadian coinstars pay the current exchange rate? How often is it updated?

In Canada, Coinstar pays Canadian face value for US coins. No exchange is paid. This was the first Sac I have ever encountered north of the border so I guessed that our Coinstars may not take them.

ok, thanks for the info! The machine may not take them, iv'e just observed that the american coinstars often kick out dollar coins, which they technically take.

I went to a large supermarket today where the Coinstar machine is in a kind of alcove at the back, so it's easy to check the reject slot without getting strange looks - nobody would go near the machine unless they wanted to use it! I didn't find anything in the tray, but on the floor, just in front of the machine, was a 2009 Polish 2-groszy: an addition to my collection!

Can anyone spot the prize in this picture? I found everything at a Shoprite Coinstar about an hour from my house.
