The "ouch" for me is paying a nearly $50 "processing fee" for those coins!

That's a little stun, tunnioC.

Almost all machines I have been checking have been empty. Two machines last week produced all of this.

Nice haul there dude!!

Generally the machines I check are empty, with an occasional coin. Yesterday I picked up a Bahamas 25 cent coin in the same machine, last week a dime, most days nada. This haul was primarily due to the fact that the coins were covered in sticky gunk and many were stuck together, so were rejected. Hot water got rid of most of the gunk, if I find a coin that needs closer inspection for grade or variety/error I will soak in acetone to remove the rest.

That's because they used 2 of them as part of the $48.77 processing fee. Those totals for coins counted are always the number of coins after they've taken their 11.9% cut. You never get the full totals.

I suppose it "looks" better on the receipt that way. It also makes sense from a business (psychological) standpoint.

Very true. And, as we can see, some people end up getting either confused, deceived, or both.
