So today I went to the bank across the street to deposit a check and I checked the CoinStar machine bin, and surprisingly found a 90 percent Silver 1954 Franklin half dollar, along with 1.25 of free money! It's been a long time since I've found 90 percent Silver in a CoinStar bin! I was happy to find it!
Excellent!

Thank you fistfulladirt and jbuck! And congratulations to you fistfulladirt for finding a 90% Silver Franklin half dollar! I hope I can find more 90 percent Silver from the Coinstar bins again someday.

Checked the Coinstar at a Walmart when I went in yesterday. 12 quarters, 9 dimes and 7 pennies. Checked the same machine when I left and got another quarter and a penny. No silver but I'll that much pocket change any day.

I had this happen at this same Walmart a couple of weeks ago. I was running my metal detecting pennies through it and using a gift card option so there wouldn't be a fee. At a little over $36 dollars the machine hung up and gave me the message that my money was safe but to check with customer service. They opened the machine and removed a couple of bent ones and at that point the machine printed me a ticket for $32+ dollars. The lady said when the machine stops you lose the gift card. There was a coinstar number to call and they issued me an Amazon credit of $4 and something. My wife had an Amazon order of $47 so I told her to use my credit. When she entered it they gave her a ZERO Amazon balance. BTW saving all those metal detecting pennies paid off.

just thought I might share this, for the laughs, still can't understand why people steal collections. When they know little about the what they are worth. O,o

Ryuraza, that has to be the saddest story ever! I can't believe that idiot (the thief) cashed in very valuable coins for only face value!

The few times I've dumped at Coinstar I pay the fee. I'm not an Amazon fan, have never used them and probably never will. I'd rather support small business if given the choice, even if it means paying higher prices.

Went to my bank today and the teller had a 1942 Walking Liberty half! I quickly bought it from her....funny thing is she said a bunch of people had asked and they rejected it because they couldn't read the date. Only the 42 is legible. That's the second Walker I've received from this bank.
