NumisRob, hey, at least you got free money! Finding 1 cent is better than not finding anything!

Quote:I got a 1980-D Lincoln Penny in my local Coinstar reject slot today. Hardly worth reporting, you might think, but this was in England! Excellent!

Picked these up from one machine yesterday. . Lately I have been finding a decent amount of US coinage in the machines. Funny thing last week while walking to a machine a guy right in front of me reaches in to check just before me. This happened twice I just started laughing. We are not alone.

I broke a long streak of nothing in my local CoinStars yesterday and found $2.76 in coin, 10 common quarters, a couple dimes and a nickle and penny. No keepers but at least it was free money that went into my coin jar for my next dump at the same CoinStar.
At the same store I have had some pretty decent luck at the Service Desk, they had about 20 Ikes and a bunch of FK halves that I bought the last couple days as well as a handful of common foreign coins that they gave me for free. They included some UAE coins, Canadian's and a couple Euro cents and 5 cents.

I found this 1955 Canadian nickel on top of a Coinstar machine last Friday at Pick N' Save.

I scored again at my local grocery store, where the machine is usually empty unless I get there immediately after someone finishes using the machine. There was a young couple dumping some pocket change (it wasn't much, probably under $30) into the machine and when the wife went to cash the voucher, the husband stayed behind with the kid and the cart. I walked past the machine not expecting to see anything but there was some change in there, so I waited until the couple was gone and grabbed it quickly. I got a 2017 dime, a LMC that's barely recognizable, and 2 coins from Sweden which is impressive since that country apparently went cashless recently!

Since moving in September of last year, I've yet to find anything other than the odd Zincoln in/on/around any of the local machines.
