Wow, what a terrific find! I still have yet to find a 90% half at a Coinstar.

This is a first for me! Went to Walmart for bread and scored 4 40% Kennedy halves plus 6 cents.

Tonight I looked at the Coinstar-type machine where I most commonly find coins, and grabbed what felt like a fairly large number of pennies. There was one rather dirty time and 21 pennies. Most of the pennies are OK, as in spendable, but a few may not be. One them is flattened, as of run over by a train.

The most interesting one, though, is a 1917-D. It's in lousy condition (worn with ugly green spots), but at least it's a slot filler in the very empty first page of my Lincoln cents! (This is only the 5th one on the first page, 1909-1918. Up to a year ago I only had 3. None of my wheat pennies were bought.)

This is the 3rd time I've found a coin over 100 years old in the same machine.

My mistake, it was 22 pennies, but one of them had such a big chunk missing from the edge (a case of zinc rot, I guess) that I tossed it right away.

And that should be, "up to a few months ago," not "up to a year ago."

Anyway, 23 coins at once is definitely a lot to find at one time in a CoinStar. My previous record was a mere 7.

After a long drought the CoinStar finally yielded up something. A 2014-P Jefferson nickel... you can see why it was still there. Acetone and Verdi-Care didn't help much, however.

Thanks, Errers. I'll be getting more than 5¢ worth of fun with it here on the CCF!
