I was at a Fred Meyer the other day waiting for this woman to finish with the coinstar. I swear there were a few silvers in there, but she scooped them all into a plastic bag before she left.
Ouch.

Better luck next time.

You should've gone up to that woman and offered her a dollar or a few for the rejects, most people would be happy to get rid of their change even if you paid a little over face for them.

I could have, but she looked like she was in a hurry.

That makes sense, but what I don't get is why people in a rush take their rejects, as evidence at my grocery store of hurried coin dumps are:
-Plastic bags or coin containers left around
-Money left in the dumping mechanism
-Dumping mechanism left in mid-air

And half of the time, there are at least a few rejected coins in the tray and lots of times I have found silver under these conditions.

BTW, I found a coin-shaped battery today for the 2nd time in a row.

Yahoo !! Finally a silver at Safeway coinstar today 1964 D Washington AU condition with it a 2014 cent no idea why it was rejected, came back later 14 cents and a badly beaten up Wheat cent looks like 193?

Actually, I just remembered- it wasn't a complete loss, I lifted up the dumping tray and there was a nickel (1979-D I think) behind it.

53 ultra-grimy cents and a Canadian dime at the bank today. Excuse while I go fumigate my hands.
