Quote: The silver is great, but I was pretty thrilled with the 5 jiao coin as I had wanted that for a while. Very nice!

Today a 1959 d in the tray, all by itself. This has been a great year for silver dimes.

Nice dimes, Mightyheaths and illegaltender.
As for me, all I'm finding lately are Canadian quarters, thrashed pennies, random foreign coins, and game tokens... But I'll keep plugging away... I know steel, wheaties, and silver might just be around the corner!

Although I've been expectantly checking the change return trays of CoinStar machines for years, I have had literally no luck finding silver coins of any kind. The best coins I've been able to retrieve up till now have been a steady stream of Canadian pieces, as well as the occasional U.S. clad coin. However, that finally changed the other day... One grocery store I am in fairly frequently has a CoinStar machine near its customer service counter, and I always make sure to check it the moment I walk in the store. This time, I finally found something worth reporting on: a 1907 Barber dime! I can't help but wonder how many people treated the coin as a regular dime before I found it. After I pulled it out of the machine, it actually took my brain a few seconds to register what was in my hand (mostly because it was so out-of-place).

Went to my bank & got $50 of nickels, then across the parking lot to the supermarket, and inside 2 kids were cashing in coins. They kept trying to put this dime through & the machine wouldn't take it. I gave them 2 nickels for it and everyone was happy!
