I picked up a copy today. Lots of varieties from previous editions' variety sections have moved to the front, main, section of the catalogue. Some newly discovered varieties have also been added (e.g., 5c 1858 5/5 that Zonad discovered, and 2010 14 denticle Twoonie). That means that ICCS, NGC and PCGS should comment on those varieties on the certificate (although I doubt these changes will be seen in the registry sets). The variety section is on nickel dollars. Most collectors of dollars stop their collection in 1967, despite the continuation of the voyageur design until 1986. Hopefully, the low mintages, grade rarities and varieties might breath some love into that series. http://www.charltonpress.com/Numism...780889683549"Discovery follows discovery, each both raising and answering questions, each ending a long search, and each providing the new instruments for a new search." -- J. I received mine on Friday I am glad they explained the different finishes in the front. It makes things a little easier to understand. I do enjoy the nickle dollars and the varieties they contain. I was a little disappointed the silver varieties were not mentioned but supposedly that is what the second edition is for. I think it is worth every penny spent.

Also purchased one today at the Brampton Coin Show.... Good thing because I found two more Nickel Dollars (one a 1974 and the other a 1968) varieties that I had in my possession but was unsure if they qualified as varieties.

My copy is winging its way to me even as we speak. Amazon backordered me, so I got it from another vendor.

Well, it didn't take long for ASYN to dive into the variety section. Anyone notice his recent postings of nickel dollars using Charlton Numbers?
He hasn't been overly accurate about variety identification in the past. <sarcasm> Shocking for such a master of grading, huh? </sarcasm> How is he doing with the nickel dollars?

No clue. I don't buy from him - in fact, I gave him bad feedback, and am now a blocked bidder (an exclusive club!).

Is ASYN just one guy or a staff of people? I do know he uses the not so popular grading guide by Helen Keller. Where does he get all the coins to run a auction like he does EVERY day?

The postman just dropped off my copy. BTW I ordered it from Collector Bookstore and I am happy with the service they provided. I've ordered from them before and they are very reliable.

Picked up my copy of the 67th edition this past weekend at the Tinley Park coin show in Chicago. Roger, congrats on the Nickel Dollar variety section, you did a nice job with it. I'll have to bring out my collection to see what I have. (yes a large cent guy does have other things in his collection)

Thanks Dan, that means a lot to me, coming from you. I think I have done all I can do with the nickel dollar series, I have led the horses to the watering hole... time will tell if they drink...
