I think it's fake. A bunch of things don't look right to me:
The 5 in 25 The E, T, S in CENTS The 5 in 1875.
Also, looking at some authentic 1875's, the 7 is supposed to be low. This 7 isn't.
Thoughts?

I don't really have any experience with Vicky quarters but the photo appears to have a high degree of barrel distortion, like it was taken at close range with a wide angle lens. This makes it look a little strange to my eye. I'm not suggesting you're seeing things!

If it is fake, it needs to be taken down PDQ.
Perhaps the seller should retract it simply because doubt has been raised here, since even if it is real it may now not get a fair bid.
I'll point to some things to look at and discuss:
The denticles on the obverse look too much like beads The centerline of the I in DEI should graze a denticle, it looks like it is pointing at it. The A in REGINA is pointing at a denticle. I think it should be pointing between.
And the bottom left of the bust should appear to point above the top serif of the C in Canada, while it looks like it is more rounded and points at it. The C looks wrong too. More of a closed-C

Made in Hong Kong (China). It has all the markers of the counterfeit coins made there a few years ago. Here are reference images of that exact counterfeit coin. The exact same obverse is used for several different counterfeit 25-cent years. Counterfeit coin mages courtesy of Mike Marshall.

Saying it "has all the markers" isn't very instructional.
C'mon SPP and DBM: Teach us.
Or is this one of those "shhh, we don't want to help the counterfeiters" things?
Do people think they can't find a good pic of a real coin and figure out where they went wrong?
In the end, I think the secrecy helps the counterfeiters since the consumer is left without any skill.

http://bc.rcmp.ca/ViewPage.action?s...tentId=18369the above website is the RCMP repository of pictures of the collection assembled by Mike Marshall, the world renown and awarded expert on forgeries of Canadian coins. We hope this forum could host the database as well.

So does anyone know if this guy gets away with having this fake? Or do the police pay him a visit? He can sell it off in numerous places. Does ebay contact the police after an incident like this?

@t_y: Useful link, but I don't think this example is there.
Counterfeit currency is confiscated. Is that true of coins?
In the US, the government takes away 80 year old genuine coins.

Mike built the collection out of his own pocket, documented it, publish wherever he could and donated the collection to the RCMP. The collection is not complete but its study will allow people to recognize major markers of Chinese forgeries. He is responsible for forcing ebay, worldwide, to cancel listings of forged Canadian coins. He has active contacts that will attend his requests of removal. Important to note, Chinese forgeries are not the only ones around, there are other sources, including domestic. In other words: STUDY YOUR SERIES!
