In early August I placed an order with the RCM for a silver loonie, the test token set and the specimen set. The loonie has arrived but the rest hasn't. Granted, the test token set wasn't gonna be issued until Sep 4. Writing to the RCM is a complete waste of time, they respond with vague doubletalk and even vaguer talk about shipment date. They say the items were back-ordered. huh? They knew they only had to make 25,000 of them, so why didn't they make them by 9/4? I'll never under any circumstances order from the RCM again.

Im waiting on 3 orders I place along time ago...I think everyone is in the same boat with certain items. I'm not so upset with that...Its just really getting frustrating that they have to come out with a new coin because they think it time to celebrate tuesdays or the skunk...every week it seems there is a new coin for something. I'm thinking it would be nice to just get back to basics alittle.

NEVER buy coins from the RCM, 'cause you will pay for price for 'em! Wait a few years and buy the coins from a dealer or E-bay after market, 99% of the time you'll get them cheaper. remember the rule of thumb when buying modern day coinage, "the longer you wait, the le$$ expensive they become"! That is true but for me as a small dealer it makes it tough. I'm seriously rethinking about not stocking new RCM products and just supply older stuff...Which I personally find more collectable. The new stuff is watered down because they flood the market with way to much stuff every year. Thats my thoughts

I often just buy stuff from the post office, and I only buy directly from the RCM if it isn't available in my local POs and if I _really_ like it personally. For example, I ordered from RCM with the Toronto Map coin because I _love_ maps. Most of my uncirculated, proof or specimen purchases I do at the PO.

These guys at the mint are totally messed up. I just got my shipping notification for some coins I received last week. The still have not shipped the lucky loonie or the Calgary stampede coin. The next glow in the dark dino coins is delayed until next year and will probably have a 2011 date on it. I've been over charged over $800 and have had to ship back numerous defective items. Between all the late shipments, being charged tax on pure silver coins, and other stupid stuff from the Mint I think I'm done with them. Better to buy from ebay or the post office. I remember some sales manager sent an email that all their problems lie in manufacturing's inability to meet demand and things will get better. That was several months ago and still every new release is delayed and they are still dumping tones of product on the market. I don't want to deal with those people any more. The worst part is that they are totally unapologetic and don't care about customer service at all.

I hardly ever order from the mint, I have a great relationship with the postmaster at my local post office, he's enthusiastic AND knowledgeable about coins and RCM products, and will go out of his way to hunt something down that I need but that he doesn't have in stock. In my experience, your local post office is the way to go...

2011 100th set Ladybug Bumblebee Titanic 50c Titanic $10 Glow Dino Various bird 25c Certainly greater than 1% of the coins in the last few years. So, sure, all the non sellouts you can wait on. But, waiting on something that is a sellout isn't good advice. The Ladybug being the extreme example (now $800 or so), where it popped more after the Bumblebee than it did before.

I thought the test token sets were ready long time ago, they just need to keep 25k and melt the rest

RCM attracts new collectors with little experience with silver and who get excited with colourized coins. For example, the 20 for 20 coins. It is a non-circulation coin and I don't think that the bank would accept it if you deposit the coin. The weight is only 7 grams and you have to wait for perhaps another several decades for the silver to rise. They are all uncirculated and the price would never increase due to its grade. I would rather go to the bank and get rolls of uncirculated circulation coinage and not worry about unshipped orders or mail theft. All I have ordered from the mint are the circulation packs. When I first started collecting, I was also attracted by the mint products. It was a good thing that I took some time to think about ordering the coins I liked by then.

I'm glad I didn't over think it before I bought from the mint.
The hard core Numismatic folks, the bullion stacker, and the casual collector will never see eye to eye. As long as you are buying within you means and you're happy with your collection, you're fine.

Quick update: after several irate emails and one irate phone call, the RCM has told me my order has shipped today. Huzzah! Only took them 2 months.

Turns out the RCM either lied to me or the web site is wrong. My order is not marked as shipped. Thanks for nothing, RCM, I'll never order from you again.

RCM is the original dealer of all coins. They don't need a reputation because no matter what, they are the only supplyer.

I have orders on the website as far back as April that don't show as shipped but I received them long ago. The order tracking is unreliable to say the least. It's annoying but I don't know of any dealer that is any better and most have no real order tracking at all. Canada Post may have the best (and it ain't great) but they are kinda in the deliver business. PS - I have also complained to the Mint several times about their systems. Hopefully, they will get better but I'm not holding my breath.

Late yesterday FEDEX dropped off my coins. I have to complement the RCM for the high quality of the coins but castigate them for the unreasonable delay in processing my order.
