The last set that was sold was by J&M - Item number: 181100086784J&M is a reputable dealer and a member in good standing of CAND. Notice their listing and you will see that there is something fishy about this whole thing. Firstly they do not list the mintage of the set as all others have done it. Ask yourself the question why they have not listed the mintage? Secondly the listing says "with rare silver dollar loon". The listing does not say very rare like others have listed nor does the listing compare it to the other silver dollar coin which is used to compare the mintage of the wedding set with that of the silver dollar. I wonder why they would say that. Something tells me that there is a lot of hoarding going on and there is something weird happening. I cannot imagine the mint only producing less than a 1000 sets. It would cost them an arm and a leg. Also I cannot imagine them not passing the unsold into the liquidation marketplace like they possibly do with other sets.

During that time, proof sets like those were "made on demand".... there was no limited mintage, they could have made thousands, if the orders were there. Also, the mint master at the time was throwing unsold sets back in the melting pot, not sending them to whole salers... CAND and Authorized RCM dealers lobbied the mint for years, to do exactly that... There was no demand, people hated the sets. The white coin album was used again in the 2008 Wedding Set and other baby sets. Therefore, none sold... and the reported numbers in the mint reports are sets actually sold. Presto - a modern day rarity. Now, the mint sets limited mintages, and if mintages are low enough, "flippers" buy them out, hoping to make a quick buck on low mintage items.... but I doubt anything produced in the last 4 years will rival the 2007 wedding loon set.

https://goccf.com/t/136799He was his ebay account (715vkf) last December. And claimed to have 10. Now he says he has sold 9 in the last six months and has 9 left. So, yeah, some hoarding, and something weird going on.

I also bought a few sets... the 2008 mint report was there for all to see (and buy, since it had a cool proof coin in it back then). I noticed the rarity and bought several sets, and sold them later. I bought my last set at issue price early last year, at a coin shop. Before the prices went through the roof.
There is nothing fishy here, I think it was very astute - a coin flipper well ahead of his time...

That's great it worked out that way. It would seem to me that the interest is in the loonie in the set and not the set per se (although I may be proven wrong as the 2008 set is now listed for an exorbitant price). So there are other loonies in the 2008 and 2009 NHL sets, for example, that according to RCM annual reports are showing even a lower mintage than the 2007 wedding set. This whole thing does not make sense to me. Only time will tell.

The price of this set makes me glad I didn't get married in 2007. I'll steer clear of this set aside from finding it at a flea market.

Yingyang, I see you increased the price of your 2007 wedding set on ebay to $5,700. If you don't mind me asking, what is you pricing strategy with this set?

The seller is the Coin Cabinet (Brian Bell), I'll bet that you'll see another set in an upcoming Geoffrey Bell Auction...
