I have spent the first part of this calendar year buying LOTS of coins. I want to now take a pause and begin to fall into even more love with this hobby and start learning attributes of my two coinage types

Capped Bust Dimes
Liberty Seated dimes

I do also love my Winged Liberty but one step at a time.

My question to you fine experts:

What materials do I need to begin my quest?
Book/reference websites & other online areas
also, I am considering a 200X USB Microscope Cam or do you feel a 30x loop is enough for me to handle locating the finer details of attribution.

Many thanks for any thoughts, ideas or other mentoring steps.

Your Pal,

Me

The CherryPickers Guide without a doubt.

And David Lawrence online The Complete Guide to Barber dimes and Mercury dimes.

The regular 10-20x loupe is enough for varieties checking, and a cheap digital microscope, but if you have the $$$, sky is the limit.

Seated dimes:

The very scarce reference:

The Complete Guide to Liberty Seated dimes"
by Brian Greer

Good book

I tried a digital scope and found that it wasn't really good for coins, at least the one I had. I think it was the lighting built into the scope. It gave such an unnatural cast that the details didn't look right. Shadows weren't right either. I find that zooming in on digital photos was much better for me.
