Was looking at Coins and Canada's site...no mention of doubling of Canada...is this an odd error for this year.
Thanks.

I am not a Canadian expert, but it looks like Die Deterioration...

Fantastic doubling on your '78 change4thebetter! Even the left leaf appears doubled. Is this an example of hub doubling, do you think? Looking forward to the opinions of others on this one. Great pictures :)

Like HelzelsCoins indicated, the doubling is due to Die Deterioration and not hub doubling. It is a nice find when DDD is both on the whole date and on CANADA.

Thanks for replying errorrorre..numidan..HelzelsCoins.
I appreciate the input from all..I'm still in the process of learning about different types of doubling and I do understand about Die Deterioration Doubling...It's interesting and a part of the "error coin" family...albeit the "outcast" of sorts by some.
Thanks again...and thank you errorrorre for the compliment

I don't think it is hub doubling. But, it is one of the most extreme examples of 1978 1-cent Die Deterioration Doubling I have seen. My personal bias in this collecting series is that I primarily focus on only the date (I have a thing with numbers) and I roll search to find them in gem grades (MS-65 or MS-66). 1978 is someone analogous to 1969, 1975 and 1979 with respect to being a progressive doubling, and to date, I have found the following combination of doubling of the date:

doubled 8 (see photo, ICCS MS-65)
doubled 78
doubled 978
doubled 1978
doubled 19 (this one is the only one that eludes me in mint state condition)
