Hey guys back with another morgan! Was thinking about buying this because it is absolutely stunning.. What is the maximum you guys would pay for it? Also if/when I buy it do you think it would be worth getting it regraded by pcgs? It's in an old anacs holder, and it does look ms64 dmpl to me, do you guys think it would still get ms64 dmpl from pcgs? Bring it on while the fruit dance!

I don't know, I do know PCGS has some of the hardest standards to meet to get a DMPL designation. ANACS and NGC only has 4-6 inches but PCGS has a 8 inch minimum to be labeled as DMPL

These appear to be exceedingly rare in MS-64 / DMPL. I searched back 2000 days on teletrade and found only one that sold for about $1,600.

This one seems a bit nicer ...

(note the $1,600 auction was for an NGC coin not a PCGS)

I offered 1,800 for it, and he counter offered with 1,950.. Seem like a fair deal? Especially if I get it regraded by pcgs? On the pcgs website it shows these at a minimum of 3,250.

Prices for 64DMPL's vary wildly at Heritage. ANACS examples take a huge back seat to PCGS examples; the price you're talking is for one in a PCGS slab. ANACS nets hundreds of dollars less. I think it'll cross at 64, but no guarantee for DMPL. It's a Top 100 VAM, but one which is commonly available in DMPL.

Frankly, I'd pass at anything over $1300 in an ANACS slab. It's too big a risk to cross.

I was hoping I could get your opinion SsuperDdave! Thanks so much for the advice, I'll stray away from this one. I was worried especially, because it's an older ANACS slab, and who knows what the standards were for DMPL's when this was slabbed.

Thanks again!

its just to hard to see DMPL surfaces in some photos like this. If there is no reflection showing in the coin you just cant see the mirrors the coin has to give any advice if it would cross at the DMPL level at another TPG. I agree I don't believe 64 would be a problem its the dropping the DMPL that I am worried about because then even if it gets PL you could lose quite a bit of money
