So I used a website that I can't mention because I got automodded to add up my silver content, then checked the price using Dendritics. I figure why not have people submit theirs too! It will be interesting to see how much you guys have hoarded! I added up the few silver coins I have. I've only been CRH doing this since mid summer this year. Some is from coinstar finds, bartering with my brother for a walking liberty (he doesn't even collect!), but none purchased. That's what we are adding up here, non purchased silver! All in all it's 1.5521 troy oz of silver. So as of today, my silver is worth 53.58 USD. I would have more but I sold some 40% kennedys on ebay when I was really poor. Glad I wont be selling for a while. Post your silver mass and value! And update values when silver changes! Edited by Broseph 09/22/2012 4:30 pm

I've found about 2,300+ silver coins since 2007. Not sure about the value.

Over the past 2 years or so, I've accumulated just over 25 ounces of silver for face value. This includes: 100 War Nickels20 silver dimes 100 40% silver halves 9 90% silver halves

Not including CRH:
(2) 1964 Quarters - in changed. (1) 1964 Half - Blackjack in Vegas (2) 1968 Half - Blackjack in Vegas (1) 1949 Dime - in change (1) 1951 Dime - in change (1) 1945 Nickel - in change. For years, I didn't know there was silver in it. I just kept it because it was old. One day I noticed the mint mark was in a different place and researched why.

They use coins in blackjack? How does that work?

I've never played blackjack in a casino, but from what I've read, they still use halves sometimes.

Yep, we see a lot of "casino coins" here, or Kennedy's with rounded edges.

Odds for blackjack are 3 to 2. If you bet $5 and receive a blackjack, you win $7.50. Dealers would give you a $5 chip, 2-$1 chips and a half dollar.

i started CRHunting back in 2010. since then I have accumulated so much I have bought, sold and traded most away, but I can remember having almost $2000 worth of it because that's how much I have had to sell to buy things my wife wanted =).

Dang SDcoinguy, I sure hope my wife never makes me do that! I sold $40 worth a few months ago on my own accord, but only because we needed it. If my wife made me sell for here WANTS I might get sad :(

I really have no idea on a true total. I'm working on my 4th roll of War Nickels. My dimes have been mixed with purchased dimes. I had $330 in 40% halves packaged to send to an online dealer but found a local dealer with a competitive offer. On Friday, the online dealer would pay $9.75 and the local dealer will pay $9.40 for $1 face value. That amounts to about $100 less for the lot, not considering, shipping, insurance, waiting for payment, and the fear of something going wrong. Anyway, got a little off topic...lol. I think I have an additional $140 in 40% halves. No idea how many of the 90%ers were found crhing. Like the dimes, they have been mixed with purchased but I'm guessing around 120 ($60) found crhing.

Quote: I really have no idea on a true total. Nor do I. However, I can say that silver half dollar finds were used to complete my Franklin half dollar collection, either from filling holes or funding trades.

I'd like to see what some of the major searches could post for this. I know a couple people that find $1000 in 40 and 90% halves or more annually.

$1K per year in silver halves? That isn't just impressive - that's breathtaking! From what I've seen, it looks like one silver half per box ($500 worth) seems to be the average going rate. Are these people who find $1K/year doing 2,000 boxes per year or do they have some superior method of hunting? I find doing a box of halves to be an OK experience (only 1,000 coins in 50 rolls, and the coins are big and easy to handle for a ham-handed klutz like me), but lugging those overweight suckers (25 lbs ea) home from and back to the banks is a real drag. I'd love to do anything I could to upgrade the success ratio of my half hunting efforts (and thereby diminish the amount of heavy lifting and hauling I have to do).
