Would like to know if this could be a double die variety I am specifically looking at the 9, there seems to be a tail off it, and the S seem to have some striations behind it. Any thoughts?

The 9 is normal for the date. Most of them have a little knob sticking out from under them. The S mintmark is also normal - they often have crud isnide them. Comes from the base of the mintmark punch.

1971 cents are also known for having a little knob sticking up from the I of LIBERTY as well as a tiny amount of doubling on the 1 of the date.
