http://sandiego.craigslist.org/csd/...1364505.htmlIt has all p and d mints, proofs and silver proofs. If you were going to buy a set like this, what would be a good price? It seems like a good price already when I was looking on what they sell for on ebay. And it says all the coins are uncirculated. Wondering if I should make this guy an offer. This might be cheating buying the whole set, but it would save me money :)

Seems like a good price from what I have seen. I have a similar set that is missing 3 of the silver proofs and I was gonna ask around the same price.

Is your set uncirculated as well?

A similar set by a reputable national advertiser goes for $399, so $375 is not a bad price considering. I'd see if he would take $335-$350.

I wonder if by Uncirculated, this means coins taken out of circulation and put into Albums. OR are these all from Mint sets or new rolls or what? If all in HS-63 or better, set could be worth almost double that price. However, buying price is one thing, selling is always something else. What is the postage cost? Of course if in the area, could just pick it up.

Seems like a pretty good price .. I also would wonder what some of the grades would be.
I completed mine a couple months ago. From my experience getting some of the 40's and early 50's coins was sort of hard finding them in better grade at a good price.
And finding the 92 and up silver proofs, I think I ended up buying the sets and breaking them open for my Dansco.
IMO this set would be hard to do at that price, if you were buying them one at a time.
As far as cheating .. buying the whole set .. I am thinking there might be a few coins you would upgrade over time .. making it your own set. If all the coins are so good you don't want to upgrade .. that makes it even a better deal.

I have that set as well, ALL coins are BU and it cost me $25.00 more than what he is asking. I also have quite a few cameo's in the set as well. If you want pic's just holler, I can post them. My set only goes through 2009.
I think that is a good price for a complete set and the Dansco is an added bonus as mentioned above.

Yeah, that's why I was pricing mine around the same. All mine '68-2010 were cut from mint sets. The cost adds up when doing it that way.

GR58- yeah I already have a set started and I have a few cool toned coins that I would switch into the new set.
Well I emailed him and he doesn't seem like a collector to me. Just read what he said after I offered him $335:
"Actually the price is kind of low considering the price of silver. If you go 12 x face on the silver. There are 68 coins in that set that are silver x 12= $816. So as you can see the price is less than half of what it should be. So you are getting a deal at that price. So let me know what you want to do."
Sounds like a rookie move. He also has several other sets for sale, like a complete washington set. I just questioned him asking about his collecting history, because right now it sounds like these were stolen or something. I just think a collector would know a little more. He also said other stuff that made him sound like a noob collector as well.

He seems legit after talking to him. I'm going to check out the set tomorrow and he's going to accept my offer of $345. If the set looks as good as he says then I'm getting a great deal in my opinion.

I bought the set today for $345 and I'm really happy with the purchase. I did switch out a couple coins that I already had that I liked more. The clads were all from mint sets and the silver coins all look great. Very very happy :) I'm selling off a good lot of silver to pay for this if anyone is interested. My wife will be mad if I don't get my money back. lol. http://www.coincommunity.com/forum/...ctionID=5745
