Gonna be heading out to Vegas this winter and wonder if any of the casinos still use halves or Ikes at all. Perhaps some of the smaller ones downtown or off the Strip that haven't converted to vouchers?
We will have a car so I can travel if need be!

90 miles south of Vegas is Laughlin. Google it. I haven't been there in quite a few years. Last time I was there, they still had some machines that took halves and dollars.

Last summer the MGM still used halves for blackjack. And the railtrain gave dollar coins as change. It may have changed since then... ..I should go back and check for you...You gotta love vegas...

Only two places I've ever been that used real coins instead of tokens - East St. Louis on the river and in Tunica. Both trips were over ten years ago. Last time I was in Vegas the only slots that took real coins were in the dives off the beaten path.

I was in LV and Laughlin this August and did not see any coin operated machines. I read of a casino downtown that has kind of an small old time room that has a few that use nickels but never went there.

The last time I was in Vegas (and I am dating myself here - 1989) Sam's Town was using tokens the size and what appears to be the composition of Ike dollars, which I am assuming you could use large dollars in lieu of. If I can dig it up I will post an image of it.

I was in Vegas last year and Fitzgerald's downtown had 4 50c machines that used halves. I've never seen a machine that used real dollar coins.

The Meadows casino south of Pittsburgh uses half dollars. Putting together a set of "Blackjack Kennedys" in a Dansco album now.

Its quite common for casinos to use halves in blackjack for payouts of blackjack but beyond that its extremely uncommon to see them in any other use in any casino anyplace

when I was in Vegas a few years ago there were still a few machines that took coins & tokens but we had to ask at each casino, there were usually a few in a small area.

Not that it is in Vegas, but foxwoods in CT uses halves in the stud games, but you can buy them by the roll at the cage for tipping. I grab a roll or two every trip. I once won $1,000 at the table and ask to be paid in halves, the guy said I could use singles to tip and wouldn't give me all halves. He did give me $100 worth, so I couldn't complain.
