I need these for my clad washingtons and I found someone who would sell me these 19 BU quarters for $30 free shipping. Is that reasonable or too much. That works out to about $1.50 per coin. Seems like a lot to me but then if I look at ebay and try to buy them individually it would be a lot more. Should I take this offer? 1966 1968 1968 d 1984 p 1984 d 1985 p 1985 d 1986 p 1986 d 1992 p 1992 d 1994 p 1994 d 1995 p 1995 d 1997 p 1997 d 1998 p 1998 d

As long as these are truly UNC and not bag marked to death, it really is not a bad deal. If you had to drive five miles, each way, to a B & M, hoping they have what you need....figure the time, fuel, etc...involved, you are money ahead ath $30.
BUT, you miss the fun in the "hunt"! :)

You might do better by searching a box of quarters. That may cost more in lost convenience, but it is something to consider when placing a value on this purchase.

Hmmm, well he said they are going to be choice BU coins, so I doubt they'd super super marked up. But everyone has a different opinion of choice BU. lol. And yes the convenience of not having to drive to a store is great. I'm not too worried about "the hunt" for more modern coins. When I get to the silver issues that will be more of a case. As well as any other classic coins I will be after.
And that could be an idea jbuck but I don't want circulated ones, it would take too much time to find good ones and I don't have too much free time anyways. I think i'll just purchase them.

Sounds like a good deal to me, it would cost you a lot more then that to buy them on ebay or at a local store.

If your pressed for time, purchasing coins like that may well be worth that. However, as noted, searching for those could be lots of fun too. Getting rolls and searching may take a lot of time but you could possibly find other coins you might want in those rolls. And too, if not BU, you could start a second set with constant improving on the first one.

You probably could find them roll searching but itll take a lot of time. If thats not something enjoyable to you I would absolutely go ahead an buy them. No point in doing something you dont enjoy or dont have time for. In the end when you consider the amount of time and bank trips it probably is cheaper to just buy them anyway, but if you like searching then its worth the time. The other down fall with quarters is if its anything like where I live theres little to no chance of finding any silver so if you dont find the coins you want you literally just have a pile of quarters. At least with nickels you might find a War Nickel or two and pennies you can also pull copper to sell on ebay. Quarters seem to have been decimated in terms of silver ones or finding an old SL, I went through about 1500 quarters myself without a single silver one before giving up on them

However, there are no rarities in the bunch, all common dates, and any that are below uncirculated grades, would make this a good deal for the seller only IMO. Lots like these are a dime dozen on ebay, craigslist.com, and really are only good deals for the seller. I avoid them myself. My philosophy is, you stand a better chance buying an BW roll of coins from any bank at face value, search them yourself, and find more BU coins, then you would from someone selling a lot, or even roll(s).

I think this is a good deal for both the seller and the buyer if the buyer wants them now or doesn't have the time or desire to find these coins 1 at a time. Sure the seller makes a profit on the coins but he/she also spent their own time or money acquiring 19 BU coins. The buyer is able to fill 19 holes in his collection with (if they are BU coins) coins he is proud to show all for $30 and he can now move on to the next coins he is searching for. I think this is a win win for someone who doesn't have the time to roll search after all to find all those in BU condition it would take a while.

Plus driving back and forth from the bank until you find what you need will cost you money as well

Yeah the seller bought original BU rolls of every date to sell one by one. So he had to buy some expensive rolls and sell the coins individually to make a profit. It is convenient and a good deal to me, I have realized. A box of cereal that is $3.50 could seem like a ripoff if you know that the store only paid a buck. But the seller has to get the product from somewhere and resell. I've come to realize that this seller doing the work for me was valuable and made the deal worth it.
