Hi guys, I'm not new to hoarding but I'm new to coin grading. What would this coin grade, what is it worth in that grade, and is it worth it to get it graded? Thanks, Sean *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***

IMHO, definitely. It's a gold piece, and a nice one at that. If you were at some point to resell, you'll fetch a higher price in assuring your buyer the coin is real. You'll also be assured it's genuine and know the exact grade, rather than guessing.

I would grade your coin EF40 and value it at melt or about $430 today.
I would not have it graded. It would likely not grade for cleaning, rim bumps, or other problems and the cost of certification wasted.
I would verify the weight and diameter as 8.24 grams and 21.6 mm and put it in an Air-Tite.

Quote: I would grade your coin EF40 For the most part I would tend to agree with level but with a very slight tendency towards a VF-35+ IMHO mdpmedia

Since I can't yet sell on these forums, where is a good place to sell gold without getting hit with e-bay fees?

For selling, there are other coin forums, coin shops, pawn shops, online dealers, etc. Your best bet is finding a local shop that will pay close to melt value. That avoids shipping costs.
And I agree with mdpmedia, your coin could be VF35 detail wise.

Take good pics if you're gonna sell on line, that's a must. If you're worried about ebay fees wait till you try selling to a coin shop/gold buyer, lol.
