I don't think this should be a red flag, just a reason to be extra careful. Many great coins have yet to be slabbed.

I don't have any experience with these, but I'd agree with a 62 grade. The surfaces aren't original and there is that large mark as already pointed out. Is there any way you can get better photos. These pics (scans?) don't allow one to get an accurate view of the surfaces imo.

I actually thought that as well, which is one of the reasons I posted the coin on CCF.

These are the sellers images, but I could ask.

I'll stick my neck out as I obviously haven't looked at the coin in hand, and say PR58. Why? Two reasons, there's the mark in the field on the obverse that seems quite clearly to have been caused by the milled edge of another coin, so it's spent at least some time knocking around with other coins. Proofs are not all thrown into a bin together after having been struck... More telling is the fact that the cameo finish seems to be completely worn away on Liberty's one leg. Comments?

Is that a shadow or some rub on Liberty's leg? I also agree that the reverse mark is going to hold her back, but would be more concerned about the potential rub...

I'd guess PR-63 Cameo based on these images. An MS coin with comparable marks would likely score 64 or even 65 but contact marks are more negative for proofs. The frost breaks might be as-struck or could pass as "cabinet friction" rather than circulation wear.

An in-hand inspection is needed to check for hairlines and any sign of mishandling. When shopping for a coin like this I would prefer to buy a PCGS-slabbed example.

That hit in the right obverse field would more than likely limit it to PR63. May possibly qualify for a cameo designation.
Classic Proof coins should be bought TPG'd, just my opinion.

Looks like it might be around a PR-63 CAM. Hopefully the seller has a good return policy in case there are flaws that are not visible in the picture.

The coin ended up selling for $697 + $17.50 Shipping, which I thought was a bit too high.
