Hi guys Take a look at this picture of a 2009 quarter on the right as compared to normal quarter on the left....There is a difference in the antlers and I can not figure out what caused it...?

Looks like there are some differences in the 2 coins, look at where the lower point of the circled antler points in respect to the N, also the size and style of the ear -more than just wear ? Also spacing of C in Cents to the antler. What year is the 'normal' quarter, is one nickel and one steel ?

Don't know what the deal is with the antler. Reverse was changed for 2009 to present,if both your coins are 2009 you've stumbled upon a new variety.

Seems a new variety discovered!
Checked my 6 2009 25-cent, all normal ones like right picture.
Anyone found the left picture one?
Sorry, which one is the normal one?

If wert's coins are both 2009 he's found a mule. 2008 and earlier 25¢ have the reverse as shown on the left in wert`s photos,2009 and later 25¢ have the reverse as in the right photo. If you find a 2008 with the N pointing to the nose, you have a mule. If you find a 2009 with the N pointing above the nose you have a mule. I've been looking halfheartedly for a while,no mule.

Has nothing to do with what you've circled in red. It's the position and size of some of the elements that was changed.

Would it be new mules? Doesn't that require an accidental die pairing?
They date the matrices, nowadays, don't they?

Well maybe not a mule. But I'm kinda, sorta hoping the change in reverse took place in late 2008 or early 2009.Odds are though that the change was coincidental with the intrduction of the 2009 coins.

Well, until this thread, I had no idea there was a change.
It's subtle, but still clearly deliberate. The A of Canada looks like it was narrowed a bit. So, keeping the same gap would explain the shift. But, why the change?
